Aguiar beat Brandan Cantu to win the ‘€10,450 Mixed Max-No-Limit Hold’em”. The fourth day battle lasted for six hours, after which the play was paused for over twenty four hours to ensure that the poker players are able to participate in the main event. However, the fifth day event lasted only for around forty five minutes since Aguiar got the better of Cantu very quickly. With this win, Aguiar won his very first WSOPE bracelet in addition to €258,047 first place prize.

The 1st day of the competition commenced with 9-handed play and further moved to 6-handed play on second day. The moment the final sixteen players were chosen, a bracket was randomly drawn following which matches were held until a champion was found.

The final group of sixteen players comprised strong players from the world of poker. The group included, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Watson, Joe Keuther, Paul Tedeschi, Jason Mercier, Jennifer Tilly and Vladimir Troyanovskiy were some of those players who contended for the heads-up part of the contest. But they were dismissed in round one and acquired a sum of 20,443 Euros, as part of their performance during the game.

In the second round, Martin Jacobson, Kristijonas Andrulis, Konstantin Puchkov and Marvin Rettenmaier exited with an amount of €42,094. Following this elimination, the final four players left in the game included, Roger Hairabedian, Brandon Cantu, Faraz Jaka and Jonathan Aguiar.

In the match that took place between Aguiar and Jaka, Aguiar performed exceptionally well to defeat Jaka quickly and manage enough for resting time for the final match. On the other hand, the match between Roger and Cantu was completely different as the match stretched for nearly 9 hours and involved a number of controversies. During their match, Jack Effel, Director of the competition had to be called twice to conduct an assessment of the issues that were raised by Cantu.

Baranov Ahead in 10,450 Euros No-Limit Hold’em Main Event Day 2

The second day of the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe €10,450 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event was held in at Cannes in France. Ferguson, 23-year old from Edinburgh, Scotland, won the UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Newcastle Main Event, winning the first significant title of his live tournament career and the prize money of £87,640.

In the eight-handed final table, Ferguson started in second place, but unfortunately lost few chips. Further, in the first orbit, Ferguson called an all-in by Anthony Shields for 445,000 chips. Though, with A-K, he was dominating Shields’ A-9, but a 9 on the flop allowed Shields to double-up.

Later after a few hands, Ferguson grabbed a huge pot to Jack Sambrook. Then he showed pre-flop to 48,000 and called Sambrook’s re-raise to 100,000. After the 3-9-J flop, Ferguson called against Sambrook’s 120,000 bet. Similarly, After the 5 on the turn for 220,000 chips, the King was dealt on the river. Sambrook bet 375,000 and forced Ferguson to fold after some thought. This resulted Ferguson to fall down under a million chips.

In heads-up play against Alex Jobling, Ferguson faced a 2-to-1 chip fall, 6.095 million to 2.975 million. He has to face several ups and downs in the first half-hour, but after he doubled through Jobling and pulled himself within a million chips. This was the turning point for the where they both decided to take a break to discuss a deal.

According to the payout structure, the prize money for winner was £105,900 while for the runner up it was £63,860. After the negotiation deal, Ferguson and Jobling settled on dividing the prize money equally: Jobling, the chip leader, got £82,120, Ferguson got £77,640, and for the UKIPT trophy and the remaining £10,000, they continued the play.

Soon after the deal was settled, Ferguson took a big chip lead and raised to 200,000 pre-flop, Jobling re-raised to 450,000, and Ferguson called. The duo got into raising war through their chips. And finally Ferguson raised his stack up to 6.72 million, while Jobling’s fell to 2.91 million.

Later after a few hands, the chips were all committed pre-flop, Jobling gave up on the line with A-Q of hearts and Ferguson held him with pocket 8’s. Jobling couldn’t pair either of his cards or make a flush, and finally agreed upon giving away the title and the remaining £10,000 to Chris Ferguson.

On Tuesday, the International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) announced that it has had signing with David Benyamine as an ambassador for the ambitious event, taking place next year. The announcement was made just days after fellow poker player Patrik Antonius was brought onboard. The duo will be joining Liz Lieu, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, and Sam Trickett as members of the ISPT team.

It is well known fact that the ISPT is the brainchild of French businessmen Bernard and Laurent Tapie, and Prosper Masquelier. The Tapie name came from Groupe Bernard Tapie Company that attempted to purchase Full Tilt Poker before, while Masquelier was the president of Partouche Interactive before laying foundation stone for the ISPT.

The Tour is one-of-its-kind as it is considerably a single giant poker tournament which has been scheduled for May 2013, the ISPT at the famous Wembley Stadium in London. Originally, 30,000 players will be participating in the €6,000 buy-in event. All the players will be playing on their laptops from seats throughout the stadium. On the final third day of the tournament, the final 3,000 players will move to a live game at poker tables which will be played on the stadium’s grass field. The players will be allowed to re-buy one time and pay for one double add-on to try, further they are allowed to grab their share of the €20,000,000 prize pool.

The first player who began his role as an ambassador was Patrik Antonius. He wore ISPT gear during the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event last week. Finn, however, has no World Series of Poker or World Poker Tour titles to his credit, but holds respectable image in the poker industry. He has some successes on the live tournament circuit. Earlier this year, he won almost $2 million with second place finish in the Aussie Millions $250,000 challenge, finished fourth in the PartyPoker.com Premier League IV, and also another fourth place finish in the €98,500 8-Max Super High Roller Reload at the European Poker Tour Grand Final. Antonius Patrick was another selected main draws for railbirds at Full Tilt Poker because of winning the highest stakes games online.

Well-known high stakes cash game player, French David Benyamine, like the ISPT’s founders, also made his mark in tournaments. Winning a big splash in 2003 at the WPT Grand Prix de Paris for over €350,000 earned him the real fame in the poker world. Further, in 2008, he won a bracelet in the $10,000 Omaha Hi/Low Split Championship, also made two more final tables, and a bubble at the World Series of Poker. His achievements include a couple more top four finishes on the World Poker Tour and third place finish in the same $250,000 tournament at the Aussie Millions where Antonius finished second.

On Tuesday, 11th of September 2012, leading poker player Tony G announced in his blog that he will be backing an online poker superstar Dan “Jungleman” Cates. He wrote that he is now back in the staking business and will be fronting Cates’ buy-ins for live and online tournaments and cash games.

Tony G is not a new name in the business of spotting a profitable investment. According to what he wrote in his blog, he was impressed with the form that Cates was displaying over the past couple of years and therefore he would be willing to back him at any stakes. Despite his short career so far, Cates has still managed to win more than $6 million in online poker. He is considered among the best heads-up no-limit cash game players in the world.

In his blog, Tony wrote, “I have talked before about how I wanted to stake Isildur1 – well I am back in the staking business now as I am backing Daniel ‘Jungleman’ Cates. I think this guy could turn $5 million into $100 million – he’s a genius. I started off by backing him for the WPT Grand Prix de Paris and intend to back him live but predominantly online.”

“He is a talent and has a good heart. He even marked his first day under my wing by coming to the Aviation Club in a suit and very smart he looked too. He’s coming to Tony Resort to meet Nordas and Zasko and explore the forest (a jungleman can surely adapt to Lithuanian forests). He has definitely had his ups and downs but his heart and head are in the right place. I was impressed by his Jungleman Challenge so now I am giving him a challenge!”

“I take this decision as a businessman – I have faith in him to do really big things and believe he will make me money. He just needs a little guiding hand along the way. While Daniel is a long term project I looked forward to seeing how my Hungarian Hellmuth assassin Andras gets on at WPT Malta next week. He’s going to make the brat look like the hot dog riding fool he is!”

Having busted on Day 1a of the WPT Grand Prix de Paris on Monday, Tony re-entered again on Day 1b. If he is knocked out again, he’ll at least have his hopes on Cates who has advanced in the tournament with a below-average stack.

The final table for the top six players has been set at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Legends of Poker Main Event in Bell Gardens, California. Currently Josh Hale is the chip leader with 7.325 million chips, almost double of any other player at the table.

According to the tournament database of the TheHendonMob.com, Hale has made just six live cashes since 2007 for a total of $44,300, and this win (if he wins) would be a lifetime achievement for him. His earlier achievements include a fifth place finish in the $125 No Limit Hold’em $1,000,000 Guaranteed Event at 2011 Legends of Poker earning $35,000.

Hale reached the top on the leaderboard by filching the bulk of the chips on two hands. The first bulk he made before dinner when after a flop of J-T-8, Hale called check against David Marshall to see Marshall follow-up with an all-in, as a result Hale raised his chip count for another 2 million chips. Then Hale flipped over 8-8 for bottom set, forcing Marshall to need some sort of combination of running card but nothing worked for Marshall. But with just A-T for middle pair, top kicker, and two more 3’s on the turn on river, Marshall had to face the elimination from the WPT Legends of Poker Main Event in 11th place.

After eliminating Marshall, Josh Hale reached chip count up to 4.835 million chips.

The other big bulk came when Max Steinberg raised pre-flop to 150,000, and then Jim Willerson moved all-in for 1.025 million. Hale pushed over the top of Willerson that forced Steinberg to surrender finally. Willerson had two black Kings, but Hale surprised him by turning over Aces. Eventually, Willerson was back homel in 7th place.

This is how the final table’s composition was determined.

In the final table there will be blinds and antes at 30,000/60,000/10,000 and two players, Max Steinberg and Jeff Madsen who have chips over a million. Greg “FBT” Mueller and Raouf Malek have also maintained enough comfortable stacks of 3.49 million and 3.13 million, respectively. However, they are not at the vulnerable stage of being eliminated unless they commit any mistake in their moves. The final table of the WPT Legends of Poker Main Event will began at 4:00pm PT. The live tournament can also be enjoyed on WPT.com with just a 30 minute delay.

WPT Legends of Poker Main Event – Final Table Chip Counts

Josh Hale – 7,325,000

Raouf Malek – 3,130,000

On Sunday, the play was a combined field, with 303 survivors from the two Day 1 flights. Stephen Graner was the only one player who began Day 2 in the top ten on Day 3. Well, it was Ali Eslami leading all players with 618,500 chips.

The race was absolutely tough with the top four players on the leaderboard – Joseph “subiime” Cheong (574,000), Jason Koon (567,000), Antonios Roungeris (551,000), and David Miscikowski (550,500).

The chip leader, Ali Eslami, though, has reached close to the final table in many major tournaments, but last year in summer at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) he made to the top ten in two events, finishing third and eight. Last year also, he made three top ten finishes – sixth, seventh, and eighth, as well as a final table appearance at the WPT Hollywood Poker Open. Eslami has also achieved some big wins at the 2011 WSOP Circuit Regional Championship at Harrah’s Rincon, earning $282,242.

All the top players with chip counts in the group have experience of having big achievements in tournaments. Joseph Cheong finished third in the November Nine in the 2012 WSOP Main Event, and made a runner-up finish in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Mixed Max event this summer. Lee Markholt had two wins – the 2008 WPT World Poker Challenge in Reno and the Professional Poker Tour’s Five-Star World Poker Classic in 2005. Jason Koon made a runner-up finish in a WSOP event this year and placed fourth in the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller event. And Max Steinberg had a WSOP bracelet win this year in one of the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em events and one close reach in 2010, finishing second in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event.

The other players who were there in the tournament but out of the ten list – Todd Terry, Greg “FBT” Mueller, Jesse Martin, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, and Jeff Madsen. The prize money will be distributed among a total of 63 players. It is expected that the money bubble will burst in relatively short order on Monday. Day 3 has been scheduled for either six 90-minute levels or until there remains just 18 players still in the field.

In a latest move in the poker world, the long-independent Everest Poker has finally decided to join up with the iPoker Network. The association is considered to help both the network and the poker room.

Though, Everest Poker has not been at the forefront in the online poker industry, but has always challenged the industry leaders like PokerStars and PartyPoker. It has earned almost similar respect amongst poker players like these leaders.

Everest became famous in the poker world a few years ago when it positioned itself as one of the major sponsors of the 2008 and 2009 World Series of Poker with its logo appearing on every table in the tournaments and events.

Unfortunately, Everest’s fame did not last long and faded gradually. According to PokerScout.com, EverestPoker.com ranks 23rd in online poker competitor in the industry, with a seven day average of 570 cash game players, and its French site, EverestPoker.fr, is still doing well, ranking 15th with a seven day average of 650 cash game players. This incredibly is a great match for Playtech’s iPoker Network as PokerStars.com is the largest online poker network in the world with 2,800 cash games players per weeks.

This will significantly increase traffic of EverestPoker.com. At the same time, iPoker.fr is virtually inactive that may also bring the players from EverestPoker.fr back to their own poker room.

The announcement was made just before the iPoker Network is heading towards splitting into two. The first room, the upper tier “iPoker 2” has been created to get its member poker rooms to attract profitable customers, while the rest will remain on the old network to meet the requirements such as a minimum of 6,000 active players per month, plus add least 850 new players per month, each having to contribute at least $5 in rake or tournament fees. Some other requirements such as evaluation of deposit to cashout ratios will also be met.

Originally, the EverestPoker aimed at bringing all tables on iPoker 2 to house all players from the included skins, but that has since been reconsidered as a result the players will only be segregated at No-Limit Hold’em cash game tables up to $2/$4 and some Sit-and-Go tables. Now, every member poker room, irrespective of their tier, will share multi-table tournaments.

A representative of Poker770.com confirms that Two Plus Two, Titan Poker, Poker770, William Hill, Bet365, and Paddy Power Poker will be the founding members of iPoker 2 when it has been scheduled to launch on September 1st.

According to a report from eGaming Review, Titan Poker and fellow iPoker skin CelebPoker were about to merge ahead of the split, and the two rooms, Pokerhuis and Gutshot Poker, were all set to leave the network.
